I you wanted a nice pice of gear, try to get a faderfox-it has quality build, sensible crossfader location, and transformer buttons. Plus, for whatever absolutely RETARDED reason, the evolution crossfader is on the top, above the knobs-I don't even scratch and I know enough to realize that is totally bunk. I bet the evolution has a detente, but no transformer buttons-I'm addicted to instantly jumping between sides with the transformers and can't go back. The build of the DM2 is good for the price, but the crossfader has no center detente, but the transformer buttons are the shit. Anyhow, the software is what is the bomb part of the package for me-it is SO flexible and deep-any button or joystick or scratch wheel can be mapped to AS MANY midi commands as you want-I have one button to instantly return over 50 knobs and sliders to the "zero" position, or use a scratch wheel to turn multiple knobs at once-try to do that on an evolution controller-psyche. pc only, mac guys, but of course it would be too cheap for mac users anyway (just kiddin, don't flame me.). I gig with my DM2 all the time-for the $30 I spent for it on ebay, it is the best bang-for-buck piece of gear EVER-thanks to pdooms awesome free software to convert the worthless DM2 USB signal to midi.
